There is one final sailboat access spot to mention, Burnt Store Marina. This is up above the Northwest corner of Cape Coral, right off of Charlotte Harbor. It’s actually no longer even in Cape Coral-- it’s the start of Punta Gorda. But we’ll go ahead and include it anyway as it is an interesting area for consideration as well. And it’s great sailboat access too. In fact, if you are looking to park a big sailboat and/or if you have a deep draft vessel, this is one of the better considerations for doing so.
It is a large master planned community with a variety of single family homes, villas, and condos. Here you’d be keeping your boat in the marina as opposed to directly behind your home though. And what a marina it is! There’s 525 wet slips and it can even handle 100’ yachts. In fact, it’s the largest marina on the entire West Coast of Florida and one of the biggest in the entire State of Florida.
Because this is so far to the Northwest it’s more likely you’d visit Punta Gorda rather than the Cape Coral/Fort Myers area for your shopping and daily activities. And in spite of the size of this neighborhood its surprising how exceptionally rural it is immediately outside the gates of the community. There’s really no commerce in the area, as this development is largely catering to the seasonal crowd, for those looking for a getaway retreat. You will have to head North about 10 miles (14 minutes) to get to shops, restaurants, etc.
Also: Do please note that because this is a marina kind of community all properties within it could potentially offer Gulf access (via the available wet and dry slips for rent). For that reason, you may also want to search properties that aren’t currently listed as Gulf access if this neighborhood is of interest.
